After outsmarting 15 teams of different nationalities and bagging the Championship title of the 1st Qatar Dragon Boat Festival held in Katara last March 2015, The Gaod Dragon Boat Team (GDBT), a group of Filipino dragon boat enthusiast in Qatar will take part in the 5th Korean Open Busan International Dragon Boat Festival to be held in Busan, South Korea this 9-13 September 2015.

The Philippine team in Qatar composed of 27 paddlers including females also has a good chance to perform well in Busan as they have been training hard for the competition,
The GDBT was formed in November 2014 with a mission of promoting and encouraging the growth of dragon boat sport in Qatar who has now over a 60 members
"Generally, Filipino paddlers are really good. Our athletes in Qatar have proven this on several occasions against paddlers from other communities. We are proud to be selected to compete in Busan," said GDBT team manager Dominique Pascual.
"GDBT aims to promote and encourage the growth of dragon boat sport in Qatar. The group intends to provide an opportunity to people to get to know each other through an accessible and spirited team-oriented activity and introduce to the community an alternative channel into fitness, health and well-being.
We know that these all-Filipino group of dragon boat sport enthusiasts in Qatar will bring honor and prestige to us and is proud to be representing the Filipino community here at the prestigious event.
Excitement, confidence and determination are the dominant feelings among the members as they are counting days to the much-awaited international dragon boat festival to be held in Busan, South Korea, 2nd week of September 2015
Our country, represented by the Philippine Army team, has recently won in the Japan Dragon Boat Championship. As well as in Hong Kong and Macau.
Meanwhile, Gilas Pilipinas isn't the only Philippine team currently winning in Taiwan.
The Philippines Manila Dragons continues to be a powerhouse in international Dragon Boat racing, earning 3 first place finishes at the 2015 Taiwan International Dragon Boat Championships at the Fu Lu River in Lukang, Taiwan, which took place from August 29-30.

A first meeting and a dialogue was called by H.E. Wilfredo Santos with the Alliance of Filipino Journalists in Qatar (AFJQ) at his official residence in West Bay Lagoon, Doha this 29 August 2015.

Established last March 2015 with its founding members who ratify its basic constitution and by-law and was inaugurated last April 2015 by our former Ambassador H.E. Crescente R. Relacion.
The attendance of AFJQ is very solid during the breakfast meeting, and was the 1st time happens in Qatar to show most of the media practitioner its solidity and unity in showing a common support to our beloved Ambassador.
Our dialogue today that took for more than 3 hours is just a start, we will be looking forward to at least for a monthly gathering and discuss some development, according to Amba.
